Anh Do, VP Nguoi Viet Daily News
Moderator: Discussion 1 (Captivating the Audience)
Anh Do will go wherever the story takes her. A second-generation journalist, she started her career at the Dallas Morning News and Seattle Times before coming to the Orange County Register, where she writes a column on Asian affairs. She also serves as vice president of Nguoi Viet Daily News, the largest Vietnamese-language publication in the United States, and edits Nguoi Viet 2, its weekly English section.
Anh's work has taken her to India, Peru, Cuba, England, Vietnam and 18 states in Mexico. Her coverage has been honored by Columbia University's School of Journalism, the Asian American Journalists Association, Freedom Newspapers Sweepstakes Award and the University of Washington's DART award for excellence in reporting on victims of violence.
She has taught at the Poynter Institute of Media Studies and is a recipient of a New York Times fellowship for training in newspaper management, and a Peter Jennings Project fellowship for study of the Constitution. Anh graduated from USC with degrees in journalism and English literature. She also studied international relations at Regents College in London and Spanish at UNAM in Mexico City. |
