Ngoc Nguyen, Editor Nha Magazine
Panelist: Discussion 2 (Challenges of the Next Generation)

Ngoc Nguyen is a freelance journalist and editor. She is currently editor of NHA Magazine, a national, bilingual publication that explores Vietnamese American culture, identity and lifestyle. She has more than eight years of experience as an editor, journalist and radio producer. Ms. Nguyen previously worked as a healthcare journalist for two health-focused Web sites, and was an assistant producer at Marketplace, national public radio's show about global economics. For Pacifica Radio, she reported from South Korea , Hong Kong and Vietnam , where she lived and worked as a freelance journalist for six months. She recently traveled to New Orleans, LA to interview Vietnamese American residents about the pressing issues they face in rebuilding their lives and community.

She is also currently co-producing a documentary film about the Vietnamese American community in New Orleans East. Her work has appeared in numerous outlets, including Pacifica Radio, Marketplace, KQED's Pacific Time, National Radio Project's Making Contact, San Francisco Chronicle, Orange County Register, Inter Press Service, NHA Magazine and New America Media. She received dual degrees in comparative literature and molecular and cell biology from UC,Berkeley, and earned a master's degree in journalism and communications from CSU, Northridge.
